Reno Update & Goodbyes

Okay firstly to my 'goodbyes' - no I am not going anywhere but today I said goodbye to some faithful old friends. You see, I am having laser eye surgery in two weeks to restore my vision and I had to say goodbye to my contacts today - ahhhh! I have to wear glasses for two whole weeks prior to surgery, and as I have come to rely on my contacts, having worn them for more than 15 years now, they were very hard to give up. I must say, I have a headache that could kill people today due to the fact that my glasses to not have transition lenses (never thought I would need to wear them for any length of time). So I'm not too sure how I will last 13 more days without finding some ridiculous looking sunglasses to put over the top!!

Love to know if anyone else has had this surgery and what your experiences were.

Okay enough of my whining - on to our renovation update. Unfortunately there is not a lot to report as we are in the boring stage - you know in the middle - so I will show you where we are at anyway. The image below shows the main bath with some floor tiles that were laid today. I love them already! The tiles are porcelain and even though I only budgeted for ceramic I am glad I went this way.

The image below shows the ensuite - you can kind of get the idea of the shelf we are having down one side.

The following image shows lots of tiles etc. in our bedroom! Oh the fun of renovation!

Hopefully next week I will be able to show more finished images along with a bit of a budget breakdown - oh and I think I might actually have a breakdown when I finally add it all up!!
Happy weekend to everyone. Michelle

  1. My friend had laser eye surgery and says it's the best thing she's ever done - bye bye glasses and contacts. I can picture where you're up to with your renos at the moment - stuff everywhere, things half finished but it will all be worth it in the end! x

  2. Oh, I am SO jealous!!!! I unfortunately can't get the surgery (dodgy eyeballs or something) as I had them checked but I would love it. Everyone I know who's had it done raves about it. So good luck and looking forward to seeing more of the ensuite updates! Jane @ the girl in the brick house.

  3. Goodluck with the surgery! I am such a scaredy cat about getting it done. I must say that my presciption sunglasses are the best thing I ever purchased! I would be lost without them and find myself doing the shopping in woolies with them on! Have a great weekend Michelle!

I love your bathroom floor tiles:) My sister in law had laser eye surgery about 12 months ago (she had worn glasses or contacts for 25 years) and she has had a fabulous experience with the surgery and after! Hope your headache goes away and you can enjoy your weekend. Hugs ~ Tina x

  8. I feel your pain about the budget concerns but I am sure (or at least I am hoping) that we will both feel it will be worth the expense on the other side of the mess, tradespeople and in your case....tiles in the bedroom! Hope your headache eases and this too is a little pain for a mighty gain!

  9. Hope the next couple of weeks aren't too much of a headache. I know two people who've had this surgery, and never looked back. (Hang on that sounds bad!) They just rave about it! Bathroom is looking very, very good. Bet you're hankering for that first bath with a glass of bubbly and smelly candle. x :)

  10. Hi Michelle honey, I do know some people who had laser eye surgery and they said its the best thing they have ever done! I am so sure you will feel the same in a couple of weeks. Just think of us, your bloggy friends when you are lying there in the chair... cheering you on and wishing you well... thats all i can say to make is easier, except that i would probably rather have laser eye surgery than a root canal!! in fact, i would rather have a c-section than a frickin root canal!!! You will be so happy with the result! I promise you! I am thinking of you honey!

  11. Hi Michelle,
I just found your blog and think it's great! I'm looking forward to following you and watching the renovation proceed. Good luck with the surgery- I've never enquired about it as I'm too chicken but imagine it would be fantastic once it's done. Emma.
